Bittrex Exchange (located at bittrex.com) has become a fairly common destination for thousands of cryptocurrency traders (myself included). While the exchange boasts several coins that aren’t traded anywhere else along with fairly decent liquidity (depending on the asset you are trading), Bittrex is most definitely not without a few bumps in the road. The greatest of which – in my opinion – is the charting system and the method with which it is implemented on the platform.
Without a Bittrex account it is impossible for you to access Bittrex charts, as the front end of the site (the section accessible to non-users is without any access to their specific market listings and corresponding charts.
The core charts, while being fairly useful, are only rendered in a small iframe inside the password protected section of the site. If you’re on the go and don’t have an available mobile charting app with API access to Bittrex then you have to undergo the full 2FA “experience” to get in JUST to access a chart that wasn’t designed for mobile devices. (Good luck scrolling past the chart in mobile, because all you’ll do is zoom and scroll the chart instead of scroll the page – needless to say, it’s a journey to get to the order book below lol) – Oh and did I mention – The legendary TabTrader app is missing several currency pairs from Bittrex, so that’s not an option (take PIVX for example!!!).
When using a laptop/desktop computer, the charts presented in the Bittrex dashboard are too small to be practical on a deeper level (if you care to dig deep in some analysis). So, while analysis tools are available in their charting system, you’ll never get close enough to place accurate indicators and if you risk zooming in then you miss the big picture entirely…
A SOLUTION AT LAST
All this to say…
I’ve had enough with Bittrex’s lame ass charting and, since I never complain without providing a solution, I’ve done something about it. This is the first in a series of projects that I am working on to provide better access to the crypto’s traded on Bittrex – many of which are not traded anywhere else (take PIVX, for example !!!!!!).
I dug through the Bittrex website code and located the source of their charting engine as well as the format they use to easily generate infinite charts as needed by the simple appending of asset symbols to the end of the respective URL’s.
I’ve done this and assembled an entire list of all assets traded on Bittrex (Something almost impossible to clearly get from the exchange, itself, by the way – there’s no button for it – you literally have to click the “Bittrex” logo to get out to the location where you can SEARCH assets but never even view a full list).
My BITTREX MASTER LIST has the DIRECT links to RESPONSIVE FULL SCREEN CHARTS (they conform to your screen size) for every digital asset traded on Bittrex exchange. Why Bittrex never provided a “pop out” button on their charts like everyone else – I’ll never know. Lord knows they have the charting engine to do so. Oh well. So since Bittrex won’t do it then I gave them a helping hand…
